Did I write you that Mr. Gurley was here on Saturday & we spent 3 hours going over details of the book. The Index is being made, & some several hundred pages will be ready for the final printing. It is very slow work, for there are so many things to look after. Particularly in reference to the illustrations. Some changes you and I wanted could not be made, so I let them go.

Miss Bradly sailed for England on Saturday to visit Miss Gay & then go on the Continent.

This morning I received the paper from Mr. Heald which I sent him to execute & I have handed it to Mr. Hare. So now I [[insert]] shall [[/insert]] have to look after the investing of the money. I wrote you about US. Steel Com., when I wrote, it could have been bought for 74 or 75. Now it has gone up to 80 or 81. I am at a loss what is best to do. I don't dare risk anything - & yet it is very difficult to decide just what is safe.
