sent you, was $492.45. The Homestake dividend has come $65, making your balance, 557.45 You can buy, say 5 shares of U.S. Steel Common - I think it can be got a little lower, this mornings quotations are $78. It may be lower by Tuesday, which is the latest we can buy & save the June div. I may have to do it Monday, thro. Hibbs. I want to invest, if I can, $1000. I thought I could add your stock to mine & there would be a better chance of getting the stock if I can order 15 [[strikethrough]] or 18 [[/strikethrough]] shares than if I order only 5 [[strikethrough]] or 6 [[/strikethrough]]. One always has to pay more for a very small block. You said you were going to send some money for deposits, but none has come.

If you are willing to have me buy you 5 [[strikethrough]] or 6 [[/strikethrough]] shares of U. S. Steel Common, telegraph me for there is not time now for a letter, as I must give the order probably on Monday to Hibbs in order to secure the stock before June 1, which is Thursday, when the books close for adjusting the dividend. The Common is now paying 5 [[strikethrough]]%[[/strikethrough]] per cent, and if we buy it less than 80, it will mean 6 percent.

Transcription Notes:
Hibbs were investment brokers in DC.
