Home. Wednesday A.M. Aug 28, 1918

My dear Francis
It seems a long time since you left for Neb. & you are on your way to Walthill I presume. I am mailing this letter this P.M. so that you may get it as soon as you reach Macy which I think will be the last of the week.

I hope the journey was not very uncomfortable. We had a heavy thunderstorm the afternoon you left, or rather evening. It did not rain heavily then, but there was considerable electric display. It is a little cooler but very close & sticky. Such is the weather today. Yesterday A.M. I went down to the Bk. deposited check & drew money for the payments the first of the month. This morning I went down to Shapiro's for such articles as I could get. I brought home the meat for yesterdays dinner. It was hot & uncomfortable. Last evening I went to the Library & read Dr. Dall's Biography

[[left margin]] no letter from any one has come, today.
