I have been at work on the literal translation of the rituals and I have found out the full meaning of some phrases that seemed incomplet and they puzzled me. Now they are clear and we will have to make some changes in our free translation to give the true meaning. For uniformity of rhythm some qualifying words were left out and that was what kept me puzzled. The Indians could not help me at all so I have to work them out myself. At first it was hard and uninteresting work but now that I have gone into it I find much that is interesting and it does not now seem so hard and tiresome.
