up to this time the weather has been bearable and now the heat is so great that it is hard to work.

As soon as I hear from Mr. Hodge about the allowance I want to get at one of the men who have consented to recite the rituals for me. One of then is not very decided about it as he says that he has not, for a long time, officiated and he is not sure that he can recite the rituals accurately. He has been asked to officiate at a ceremony to be given at Gray-horse and he says that he will not be sure of himself until he has gone through with that ceremony.

James Murie, I hear from his son, is now doing some Pawnee work for the New York Museum. That Pawnee material will now be pretty well scattered. There is good stuff there and it occurs to me the Bureau ought to get you to complete
