Everything, even the actions of the Indian Office at Washington seem to be against the Indians so that it looks as tho they are being slowly crushed. Their own inaction is against them. They seem to be helpless against the many little schemes to secure their land and money, which on the face look all right legally and morally but in reality carefully arranged frauds. All this wealth is really a curse not only to the Indians but to the people who are getting possession of it by means of deception.
