When the relations of the candidate had gone our women hastened to spread the oilcloth which ran very nearly the length of the long wigwam. Then the plates and bowls were placed and all gathered around. The meat, sweet corn, pies and cakes and coffee were passed from hand to hand and all got pretty busy, and these were many. What it will cost the parents of the candidate and other relations cannot be accurately estimated but that is their affair. The more things they bring the better for us. They have brought thirteen good horses and two new buggies with harnesses but those things do not tempt us.
