the personal gifts to the father of the girl were distributed. I was the first to be called, and I was told by the father of the girl that in this I stood in the place of Saucy Calf, the girl's grandfather. He wanted to give me a horse but I protested and accepted only a few articles of clothing which were of no special value. The father of the girl announced to the guests that he would call me first at the distribution of the goods brought to him and that I represented the girls grandfather, and all approved. A feast to the relatives of the girl will be given this morning and I am invited. In witnessing this wedding ceremony, I have learned much by listening to the conversations of the old men about the old [[time?]] forms. It seems that on the morning after the day on which the gifts are accepted by the parents of the girl and her relatives
