My dear M,

On my return from Gray Horse yesterday I found your two letters one date the 20' and the other the 23rd. The osages at this camp went to visit the Gray Horse people and I went with them as I had heard that they were going to have the [[??Ninkine??]] ceremony. They did have it and I saw most of it. There were many things in it that were very interesting and quite different from the first ceremony that I saw. and they made clearer other things that I have heard described. I took many notes as I sat near the door of the wigwam where the ceremony was being performed. I was invited to go inside but I declined because I could see the singers and the [[??Thoka??]] to better advantage where I sat .altho. it was most uncomfortable on account of the wind and dirt.
