The doctor here gave me some old rasor blades to shave my records and they are fine for that work. I made a handle for them and I only hold the blade against the cylinder as it is revolved by the machine and the records are shaved in thirty minutes.

The people here are good to me. They have the greatest respect for me and I treat them well. The new Supt. seems to like me very much, he and his wife. He wants me for the position of Chief Clerk but I cannot take it. I cant leave Washington, you know why. The position has a big salary and I could do the work. I advised him to get Peterson and I think he will do it.

I would like to write more but now I shall have to go to the livery man to hire a rig to go to Gray Horse. Will write again when I come back.
