the seventh Degree.

This whole fight is most interesting from the beginning and some clever work was done both here and at Washington by the grafters but they have failed. Now they are put on the defensive and if the Govt. acts promptly they may be pushed very hard.

Now I must go and find Ni-Ka-Wa-zhin-ton-ga who may be the next Chief. He is a brother of Gov. Joe who was idolized by his people. I want to get at the ancestry of these men as I believe they are direct descendants of one of the first two chiefs who were elected when the Osage Government changed from the war principle to the peace principle, years ago before contact with whites. Wa-xri-zhi has given history of this which is most interesting. He made a chart out of the thing which is quite clear and interesting.

Will write again soon if anything turns up so that I can make plans to leave in time to be home for Christmas.

Ever affly,
