Pawhuska, Okla.
April 14. 1919.

My dear M,

I have just finished transcribing the 4th cylinder of the Wi-gi-e I have secured from Wa-tse'-mon-ir. The whole thing covered 8 cylinders. I think I have the meaning of the name Wa-zha-zhe in this wi-gi-e, and may mean The People from the Stars, The Name-givers. You will see when the wi-gi-e is translated.

Your letter was handed to me at noon and now I stop to write this so that my letters to you may not be too far apart. I shall not comment on the news you have given in your letter as I wish to write you of what I have done and what I contemplate doing,. The Wi-gi-es that I am now working on are the basis of the ceremonies and so I am going to get as many of them as I can. I shall have only enough cylinders for two, this one and one I wish to get from old Shon'-ge-mon-ir, and my time is getting short. There was delay in getting the dictaphone and the blanks. I shall finish translating this ritual and lay off till Friday as there is a big dance going on and I want to be there in order to get in touch with Shon'-ge-mon-ir to get the thing started with him. The translating of the remaining records of this ritual may take all day tomorrow if I do not stop at noon to go to the camp.
