My dear M,

Your letter of April 30 was handed to me last evening as I was on my way down to Ben Harrison to see if I could get another story out of him. I am very glad you are well but don't tax your strength for anything-

I hope Mrs. Burlin will make it a point to come and see you while she is in Washington and talk over her plan for having the Indians perform next fall. It might be well to have her meet Mr. Leech of the Y.M.C.A. and see if they can contribute toward the project. I think they might be willing to give a full evening to it, charging admission. When I come home I shall see Mr. Evans the first thing and try to persuade him to give the movement a support in some way. It may be that he would be willing to make use of it for an evenings entertainment to his congressmen friends and their families. In that way these people could be educated to see the beauty of some of these Indian rites - which the missionaries are trying to wipe out.

I am still waiting for old Shon'-ge-mon-in. He is so old that I do not like to leave without making another effort to secure the full Nikie Wi-gi-e of his gens, for fear he might die.
