A critical review of the birds of this genus, which had been very imperfectly understood. The three recognized species are supplemented by four additional ones, as follows: [[underline]] S. chapadensis [[/underline]], new species (p.509), from Chapada, Matto Grosso, Brazil; [[underline]] S. amazonus [[/underline]] Lafr; restored; [[underline]] S. Sylrioides [[/underline]] Lafr; restored; [[underline]] S. aequatorialis, [[/underline]] new species (p. 509), from western Ecuador; [[underline]] S. griseus [[/underline]] Jard., restored.
