In answer to your communication of June 24th addressed to Rev Geo S. Pepper in relation to donation for the releif of the sick, I am instructed by the Asst Commissioner to say that the fund is only designed for the Aged and infirm and delicate children and for purchase of flour, coffee, sugar, calico, sheeting and muslin.

The Bureau Agent can supply from Government stores meat & corn for other destitute. The Committee are authorized to purchase the articles to the amount of $400. for which a check will be sent on presentation of vouchers certified to be Col Edie Sug Asst Comr Bureau of R.F. & A.L.

It is desired that receipts be taken for issues so that a proper accountability can be made to the donors
