Myer.  On this occasion he made successful and satisfactory flights from that post to Alexandria, Virginia, ^[[date-]] without stopping.  The machine was accepted by the Government, and the contract price of was paid to the Wright Brothers.

After the aeroplane passed into the possession of the United States Government ^[[,]] officers of the army Signal Corps were instructed in its use and many flights were made at College Park, Maryland.

On [[strikethrough]] 1909 [[/strikethrough]], the machine was taken to San Antonio, Texas, and during the following twelve months it was in almost constant use at that place.  It met with various trifling accidents and certain parts were repaired or replaced.

[[strikethrough]] On [[/strikethrough]] it was sent by the Signal Office to the Wright Brothers' factory at Dayton, Ohio, where necessary repairs were made and it was then sent to the National Museum where it [[strikethrough]] is [[/strikethrough]] ^[[was placed]] on public exhibition. ^[[Oct 26, 1911]]

It practically represents the machine as it was exhibited at Fort Myer and turned over to the Government. T his is the first aeroplane purchased and put into practical operation by any Government.
