Mr. C. R Peterkin,
New York,

Dear Mr. Peterkin,

I hope that the business which demanded Mr. Toulmin's presence in New York was really imperative, for it is playing smash with our preparation of an answer or rebuttal in the injunction case at Buffalo. We have only a few days in which to file our papers, and we have much to do to present the matter to the best advantage. However we pulled Mr. Toulmin off the job and sent him to New York as you insisted.

It was absolutely out of the question for both Orville and myself to go to New York as one of us must be here to help [[strikethrough]] Tou [[/strikethrough]] Toulmin immediately upon his return. I see no reason why Orville could not attend to matters in New York as well as both of us together. He has a power of attorney from me to do anything whatever in my name as well as his own. I suppose I will be busy with Toulmin
