Besides Moose & Elk & the Minnesota deer there are wolverine, Canada lynx & varying hare as evidence of Canadian zone. The ruff grouse, hermit thrush & acadian flycatcher, loon, [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] Holbel's grebe and shelldrake are probably also Canadian.


[[underlined]]July 17[[/underlined]]  Left the lake at 7:30 AM. & reached Bottineau at 10:20 A shower came up so I could not get photographs of the Mts. from below or of the prairie from the West.

Came down to Rugby & then west to Minot & waited for 10:49 PM train to Valley City.

At tower where we cross the Mouse River sandy soil and extensive sand dunes begin and extend to Granville. Here also the Amorpha casesdens begins & extends to Granville. A very little grows on SW slopes at Minot.
