Taps blew at 11:00 P.M. Reveille came at 5:30 A.M. We dressed, answered call in 15 minutes, had calisthenics (my what kinks in our bodies) and ate after the latter. Our duties here are not arduous. We are, however, obliged to do fatigue duty for the reason that they haven't enough regular men for the same. It's not half bad though.

Of course I climbed to the top of the Liberty Statue yesterday. It was immense and one does not realize the enormity of it till one gets climbing the spiral stairway. Whew! But we puffed when we reached the top which gives such an unsurpassed view of the harbor, and various neighboring islands
