The trip up was uneventful but mighty pleasant. We road Pullman from New York to [[strikethrough]]Buffalo[[/strikethrough]] ^[[Lewiston]] just outside of Buffalo and Niagara Falls. The route along the gorge from the Falls is very beautiful. At Lewiston we took the friendly appointed "Cayuga" accross Ontario lake to Toronto, where, after a short delay we were transported out to Long Branch, the Cadet Wing of the R.F.C. - right on the shores of the lake in a good level stretch of country.

We couldn't help laughing at first. A big brute of [[strikethrough]] an [[/strikethrough]] ^[[a stiffly-]] upright drill sergeant stepping, or rather - strutting to our files and telling us in rich English to "Double on"! Blank surprise all around. What is "double on"? - Nothing but forming the two ranks facing the sergeant.
