We voicelessly gave Franchot our wishes of good luck as we saw him go into the tent; We heard no more of him until, in the early hours of the morning, he appeared, wraith-like, wandering and muttering through the ailse between the beds. He was barefooted and wore nothing but pajamas. They finally got him back to the tent.

A second time he came into the building, and yet again a third time! This very morning he came in again wearing no slippers and without a bathrobe, asking, "Did the Sar'major want to see me". We saw that he had shoes and a blanket when they led him back to the tent. -

He died this afternoon.

Who is to blame? Why was he allowed to go out in the cold, barefooted and with no cover! Why the crime of allowing him to be unattended in such a sickness? Why a deliberate [[strikethrough]] ?stop [[/strikethrough]]
