Now to a recounting of the events that [[strikethrough]] lead [[/strikethrough]] led up to my being on my way overseas:-

My commission was held up just a whole month by the loss of my papers in Washington. The R.M.A. (Reserve Military Aviators) test I took on [[strikethrough]] trans?? [[/strikethrough]] January 25/26, 1918; my appointment was witheld till February 25/26, 1918. I was impatient and disgusted with such proceedings, but such things happen every day in the army and if I happen to be the scapegoat once or twice, c'est la guerre! [[strikethrough]] who cares [[/strikethrough]]

The R.M.A. was a joke. Several years ago - nay, two years ago, for in this time aviation matters have accomplished [[unseeming?]] strides - such a trial might have been a good instance of a [[strikethrough]] flight [[/strikethrough]] fliers' capabilities. After having undergone the R.F.C. training, however, including the
