I saw tons and tons of crated goods directed to the Expeditionary Forces; all manner and descriptions of supplies were waiting for the Emergency Fleet and Shipping Board to supply the carriers. The gigantic "Leviathan" which once proudly flew the German pennant under the name of "Vaterland" was about ready to leave port with 12 thousands of soldiers aboard. There was a deal of information to be gained and Bill and I used our eyes to the uttermost. We needed to -- for both of us confessed that this was the first time we'd really felt that much action was being taken to hurry matters up.
