Naturally kept me eager and alert.

It was like that when I neared Northhampton ^[[finally]] after a tremendous time with trolleys and trains from Springfield to Holyoke [[strikethrough]] from [[/strikethrough]] to Northampton. Five miles from "hamp" and I was almost asleep. But whenever I did get onto that platform and beheld [[triple underline]]  the [[/triple underline]] girl that I compare all others by - I was in a fire-cracker world again pronto! We had so much to tell each other and the time was so short that it was far from satisfactory in that respect, but the joy of being with her for a little bite at "Ye Rose Tree Inn" and of getting a good look at her again made everything all right. I had to leave her at 10 o'clock; I can still see her sweet face as she asked me to "put up a clean fight"....
