My aunt's I went and theatres, suppers, parties were then on the programme till Tuesday. Broadway was all lit up again with the suppression of the coal saving order; the restaurants and shows were going nearly full blast although the spirit of the vaudeville restaurants was not as carefree as of yore. I made one or two trips to a top floor in Washington Square with the Levassems and McTighes, where Greenwich Village life peeped out in cigarettes and liqueurs, shocking my Puritan dislike of women indulging in such [[strikethrough]] noneties [[/strikethrough]] nonentities. It was in the spirit of the ^[[bathtub gin]] times, though, and no harm [[strikethrough]] down [[/strikethrough]] ^[[done]] other than make me feel sorry that I couldn't be longer with the gay crowd. Mm-mm- maybe Paree will make up for it, n'est ce-pas? I bid em all "so long" Monday evening.
