The low buildings. The poorly dressed populace. The abominably dressed women. The pittance beggars. The shawled Englishwomen. The women conductors and drey drivers. The public buildings set off in a goodly place by themselves -- so that you may admire them.

The infernal English money. The sing song English wine (not my first acquaintance).

The funny street-cars. The funnier locomotives and cars. The "pubs" and the "American Bar" where milady and her hubby drink quite at ease together at the bar. The bar-maids. The meat-line before the market. The high red color in the English cheeks.

The hotel room. The meatless menu. The Lift.

The dark and dismal night city. The filthy mass of brawling sailors, soldiers and women, women, women.
