the "dominie" (Rev. G. Gibbs) and others at the Tech Bureau. Also I ran into one Captain James Wallis who lives in Cambridge and is a classmate of mine who took the C.A.C. examination at Tech last May receiving a 2nd lieutenancy; now he is a Captain and an observer, and good at both.

With an over-night in Paris and a day's pleasure jaunting through the city I anticipated an added joyous occasion to that which I underwent when in the same vicinity Easter time. Dominie arranged immediately to drop his work and truck me out to the Luxemburg, but I made him stick to his tasks and set out for a shopping expedition with Jimmie Wallis after Dominie and I had had a neat little breakfast at a modest little tea-room not far from the Union.

Paris shops were all open. The terrible air-raid of the night before had no apparent effect on the optimism of the populace. The boulevards were gay with color, people roamed
