we were informed that our camp was 10 miles nearer the lines and that we would be taken there immediately. So we moved again, and came into our own on [[strikethrough]] illegible [[/strikethrough]] a plateau just outside of Vaucouleurs. [[strikethrough]] illegible [[/strikethrough]]. The 474th construction squadron had built for an especial home: a very complete aerodrome consisting of two woods full of hangars and barracks and a good field. We were received in a [[strikethrough]] many [[/strikethrough]] manner that touched every one of us. Heretofore we had been sort of tolerated as "commissioned Cadets" but here, in our permanent (?) dwelling place we were acclaimed [[strikethrough]] illegible [[/strikethrough]] ^[[as soldiers  of the war -]] men who were up to the mark of taking the hazards that are ours  from now on. 

Straw ticks, bare floors, and clean blankets were provided after an acceptable luncheon and I, for one, sought the hard bed with no murmur
