Our brother squadrons in this [[underline]] First [[/underline]] Pursuit group have been giving admirable accounts of their units and they make us want to get into action with more speed ^[[than]] that good progress we're making even now.

The daily report of operations shows that the men we knew best at the 'dromes near Toul are [[strikethrough]] daily [[/strikethrough]] making sorties, reconnaisances, patrols in large numbers and have already gained a few Huns to their credit. The 27th for instance has done remarkable work, the commanding Major (Harold Hartney) leading his groups to more than one victory. Forced landings in No Mans' Land, and lost bearings, and one instance of a ^[[(recon? 12th)]] flight to be interned in Switzerland are among the items of the daily reports. Here aerodromes are fairly numerous over the lines of this sector, but indications show that the beggars fly in formations of 14 for mutual protection.
