July 23rd - Undoubtedly Mac is a German prisoner
We've lost a mighty good fellow and a hangfired good pilot. Some days ago Mac led me on a (rather foolish, to be sure) chase way into Germany looking for trouble - just he and I, two inexperienced pilots, He didn't care, though, and he repeated it again alone, finally bringing down Putnam's wrath and prohibition. Well, Mac'll live the war out anyway, so that's somethin?
