This started as expected and Putnam assumed temporary control of the 139th, with the Major standing by; and Captain Bridgeman was notified that he would be installed in the 22nd squadron which would be assigned to work with Second Pursuit Group thus making it quite convenient in many respects for the Captain, which the 22nd is one of the ^[[aforementioned]] "old" R.F.C. squadrons formed even before the 139th and it preceeded us to [[Leyland?]] by several minutes, where it was split, the pilots being scattered and the men sent to the English Front on the Somme, from which locality the enlisted personnel descended [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] to this field near Toul. So the squadron in reality came to the Captain and us. 
And being as it was the Captain had his pick of men for F.C.'s and took with him Lieutenant Sperry,
