Consequently our patrol was delayed an hour and we had much satisfaction in seeing the 49th patrol land safely through the ^[[thinning]] mist.
We finally took off ostensibly on a voluntary patrol to learn the sector since several of the flight had not yet seen the lines. The machines were reved [[sic]] up and took off one, two, three, meeting at 3000 ft. and climbing to 16000 feet fairly well together for a crew that was getting accustomed to the game. After half an hour four dropped out having Lt. Tyndall and Lt. Jones with me.
We 3 continued the patrol. Visibility was excellent Metz, Verdun, Morhange, Nancy, were almost below it seemed while much
