It seems that Captain Bridgeman and Lt. McCormick were up on separate patrols and in different places.  Both observed a machine going down in flames in German territory at the place of my fight and at the correct time. They reported even before they heard about me so that is why indications point to a little man of good luck.  Hoo-ray!
The white puffs were indicative of lucky shooting on my part after all.  But it's peculiar that I should give up looking for my prey and turn elsewhere before he should have gone down in flames.  I don't care. I feel that I got him anyway.
