Golly, I got a citation for getting that biplane Rumpler on September 2nd!
It is an Air Service Citation, First Army, A.E.F. [[strikethrough]] Chief [[/strikethrough]] ^[[the Chief]] and says I "boldly attacked an enemy biplane Rumpler plane, in the region of Bey, pressing the attack from 4800 meters to 2500 meters. Exposing myself to the fire of machine guns of the enemy plane, etc, etc, etc.".
Whew! It was so unexpected and [[underline]] what [[/underline]] did I get a citation for? I thought I only did what [[strikethrough]] Air [[/strikethrough]] is called for. Anyway 'twas rather a pleasant surprise and may be especially pleasing for certain people at home. [[underline]] That's [[/underline]] what counts.
