After despatching work at office went to Hill 402 near Chaumont (where the Hq. Flight for the Air Service at G.H.Q. is stationed) in a Salmson 230 HP. Best biplane imaginable. Must have been an excellent ship to fly over the lines. Good manoeuvering and easy to fly. My passenger was a sandbag but I got down O.K.
