the old forlorn looking and wheezy French one-and-two-cylinders have put in many a weary appearance. The high cost of "essence" and the (formerly) very good roads made the small powered car adaptable to the needs of the country. With American troops occupying any center it doesn't take long for the roads to become pitholes under the grind of loaded trucks; the only good cars to travel about in now are the heavies like Packard 12/2 (rare) White's (likewise rare) and Cadillac Eights' (best all around)
