April 17th., 1945.

Dear Mr. Bradley:

Following our conversation of a few days ago, I wish to confirm what we have agreed upon, namely that up to November 1st., 1945 you have granted my firm the sole right to propose and sell for your account, the large painting by Fernand LEGER called "Les Plongeurs - sur fond jaune". For identification purposes, it is the one exhibited last year at the Museum of Modern Art.

The price we are to ask for it is Five Thousand Dollars ($5000.), but I will transmit to you, in the hope that it will be acceptable, any offer I shall receive.

As regards my firm's remuneration, we have set no figure as it will depend on the final price at which we will be able to sell the painting, being sure that we will agree upon an amount which will be mutually satisfactory.

The painting is at present in your apartment, and for the time being I do not see any reason for removing it. A good photograph is all that is needed at present.

If the above is in accord with your understanding of our agreement, will you be good enough to return to me the enclosed copy with your signature under the word "approved".

Sincerely yours,

(Germain Seligman)

Mr. Frederick W. Bradley,
61 Washington Square,
New York, N.Y.
