April 29th., 1944.

My dear Mr. Church:

May I supplement the invitation you received to my current exhibition of "Les Plongeurs" by Fernand LEGER, by a personal note, in the hope that I may have the opportunity of greeting you here while it is on.

Fernand LEGER, who certainly ranks among the leading contemporary artists, with Braque and Picasso, has in this group surpassed himself in dynamism and in his expression of masses and movement.

The monumental painting around which the exhibition in centered is definitely one of the capital paintings of our days.

The review of Henry McBride which I am sending you herein, illustrates better than I could the reception of this exhibition by the elite.

Yours very sincerely,

(Germain Séligmann)
