NEW YORK, ^[[JUN 12 1923]], 192______

To the Owner or Occupant of these Premises:

Please take notice that on or about ^[[JUN 18 1923]], 192______ it is intended to lay a new pavement in the street in front of premises at ^[[5th Ave 55 to 56 Street]]

All necessary installations, renewals or repairs to all service lines from sewer, water pipe, gas main, electric conduit, steam pipe, or other subsurface structures connecting with the above premises in this street should be made immediately. By making repairs or renewals before repaving is commenced, the cost of restoring the pavement over the openings will be saved, except where existing concrete is to be used as the foundation of the new pavement, in which case a charge will be made. This Department will not permit the new pavement to be opened within one year after its completion except in cases of extreme necessity. You are urged to arrange your affairs so that you will suffer a minimum of inconvenience from the restricted use of the street during the paving thereof.

DRIVEWAYS (Drop Curbs)

Permits may be secured from the Permit Division, Room 2134, Municipal Building.

To retain an old drop curb a fee of $1.00 will be charged, and a deposit required of $100 in cash, or a certified check drawn to the order of the Commissioner of Public Works. The deposit will be returned when the construction of the sidewalk adjoining the drop curb has been approved by the Department.

For new drop curbs the same deposit will be required, and a charge of $1.00 per linear foot will be made for the first 25 feet, and 25c. for each additional linear foot.

The maintenance of gutterbridges is no longer permitted.

Respectfully,

JULIUS MILLER,
President, Borough of Manhattan.

JOSEPH JOHNSON,
Commissioner of Public Works.
