The President submitted this question to the membership with these remarks, i. e.,

"...……. For an organization such as ours to participate in shows, it must have the full confidence and enthusiasm of its membership. We deal in culture, and we have many advantages over other types of organizations, yet, when it comes to actual accomplishments where professional talents must be hired, we must not overlook the fact that a strong financial position is most beneficial, and even necessary. Therefore, I recommend that strong consideration be devoted to whether or not the League should hold a yearly show, not alone for the revenue it may produce but essentially in order to also do something practical for those members who share the view that a show improves business as a whole."

The matter was discussed at length and the majority of opinions heard seemed to favor the idea of a League show if, as Mr. Freeman pointed out in his remarks, there is sufficient enthusiasm to make it a success in every way.

The Executive Committee was instructed to consider this subject further and to appoint a special committee to analyze the possibilities of such a venture from all angles.

[[underlined]] WE WANT YOUR VIEWS [[/underlined]]

The Executive Committee will appreciate your opinions or suggestions on any matter dealt with at the annual meeting, or, as a matter of fact, on any subject of general interest to the membership or to the trade at large.

[[underlined]] DO YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEM ABOUT EXCISE TAXES? [[/underlined]]

If you do, and many dealers seem to have them at this time, we will be glad to see whether we can help you solve them. May be, through the experiences of the many officers and members of the Committee, we could suggest the proper method of approach. We want to be of service if we can.

REMEMBER THAT GOODS FOR EXPORT TO CANADA MUST BE CERTIFIED AS TO THEIR ANTIQUITY. [[/underlined]]

When in doubt, contact
the League Office, [[underlined]]please[[/underlined]]. . . . .

Please remember that antiques for duty free entry into Canada must be examined and sealed [[underlined]]before[[/underlined]] shipment, and our certificate of antiquity, as certifying authorities for the Hon. Commissioner of Customs of the Dominion must be produced at the Port of entry.

Only recently two more of our valued members overlooked this requirement, and after the goods have left the United States there is little we can do to help them out. The same applies on shipments of antiquities for the UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA.
