Mr. Lewis A. Clarke,
998 Fifth Avenue,
New York City.

Dear Mr. Clarke,

Not having had the pleasure of seeing you since I met Mrs. Clarke and yourself at Mr. Charles McCann's, I am taking the liberty of dropping you these few lines to call your attention to a very fine Sir Joshua Reynolds which we recently acquired.

It is undoubtedly one of the finest 18th Century English pictures that has come to this country in recent years, and it is another version of Lord Lansdowne's famous "Hope Nursing Love" which you probably know from the copy of the engraving by Bartolozzi.

It occurred to me that, perhaps, you would like to see it, and therefore, I hope you will call in here sometime when you are in the neighborhood.

With my kind regards, and looking forward to seeing you again,

Believe me to be,

Yours sincerely,
