Since July 1, when not otherwise employed, work has been carried on, mainly by Mr. Richmond, in an attempt at the rearrangement of the entire gallery, such as restocking the supply of stationary and other articles needed in the department, the storing of manuscript and other official papers not a present in use, and in otherwise creating space to be used for other purposes, such as additional cases, etc. This work is still going on, and cannot fail to greatly facilitate the work of the department.

Mr. Richmond was also almost exclusively employed for several days in securing data from the Museum catalogues, for the compilation of a list of original collections donated to the Museum, the incorporated in the Annual report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1894.

Very respectfully yours,

R. Ridgway
Curator, Department of Birds.

Transcription Notes:
R. Ridgeway's script signature appears to omit the "e" at times. Some transcribers see as "Riojway." His bird drawings usually are signed "Ridgeway."
