4. State what progress has been made in administering upon the collections under your charge.

Data relating to this question have been given in some detail under no. 3.

Briefly, the most important of caring for the collections has been as follows:

1. Rearrangement of that portion of the collection contained in the bird gallery,- i.e., the Passeres, and Picariāē (except the superfamilies Corocoideāē and Cuculoideāē of the Stejneger classification), together with the segregation of the types in a specifically constructed type case.

A. [[circled]] The new arrangement is a systematic one, the previous one being geographical, dividing the collection into a [[strikethrough]] Neotro [[/strikethrough]] North American, Neotropical, and old world series. [[/circled]]

2. An additional room was placed at the disposal of the Curator, and the collection of Pigeons, the superfamilies Cuculoideāē and Coracoideāē, and part of the large Corvidāē were stored there, fourteen quarter unit cases being used in the arrangement, with four additional cases needed to complete the work.

3. Twelve new half unit cases were received and placed in the west basement, and large birds occupying old Salvin cases and storage boxes were temporarily installed in them.
