sized id. On the way passed over a good bank 40 fathoms down, & tried our luck [[?fishing]] hoping to get a few red snappers. Got into English Harbor at about 3:30 p.m. Fenner says. Desmond's father & mother were down, on the dock side to welcome us. Wonderful land locked Hbr. ideal for sheltering ships in the old days of muzzle loaders & wooden ships. Here Dr. Nuttings, Barbadoes, Antigua Exped. of 1819 had its headquarters for 4 weeks but the old building which they used as a laboratory is now a mere shell minus roof. I brought along the book describing (the narrative of) that exped. and in it they talk of a native band that game them a 4th of July performance. A Mr. Potter was the band leader and strange as it may be was the grandfather of our cook Kenneth Potter, as one says it's a small world! That [[?Journ]] account has been the most read and sought after book on the ship; has picture of Kenneths grandfather in it.
