Apr. 8 - 1956 - a:00 a.m. Lv. Barbuda. Weather fine. 3:15 p.m. Arr. Eng. Harbor Antigua. Weather perfect. [[end page]] [[start page]] 93 For April 5th see page 84 below & fifth. April 8. Sunday (ret. from Barbuda) Up at 4:15 was to wake Capt. at daybrk. but it was so dark, and objects ashore so little visible that I did not wake him till 5:30. We did get off at 6 a.m. however to the orange rising sun and mostly clear sky, clouds only in vicinity of sunrise. Warm, balmy with good breeze, about like last night when water was 79°G and air 80°. Was windy enroute but nothing like the journey up, which was the roughest passage of the cruise so far. Low lying Barbuda; highest point little over 200 ft. to south end on slight rise of ground one could see the Martello Tower, old "fortress" outpost, 4-5 story tower with embrasures round about for gun & rifle fire, with terrace with parapet on [[strikethrough]] shor [[/strikethrough]] seaward side for large cannon, commanding landing. By 3:15 we were tied up at the English Hbr. quay side form which we departed on the 5th April at 7:15 a.m. Now we are winding up these notes for Monday's mail; much warmer here than at Barbuda; on way down caught half dozen fish, little "poison", they said, barracuda rock-hind, horse-eyed crevally (with parasites)
