Washington, March 25, 1868. [[underlined]] Collins Miss Ellen [[/underlined]] No. 30 Vesey St. New York City You wrote me about a colored man who wants a position as teacher. I am wanting four or five good colored men now, for large schools in Maryland. If you can help me to find them I shall be much obliged. We will pay their transportation, and see that their board is paid, and about $25,00 per month salary. The money in this city has not been paid yet, but as they have stopped paying white schools or bills for anything else, I hope that the matter will soon be settled, and that we can get help from you in the Country. Very Respectfully Yours. [[signature]] John Kimball [[/signature]] Supt. of Education [[line across page]] 138 Bureau Refugees, Freedmen and A.L. Head Quarters Asst. Com'r D.C.
