Colonel:

Mr. [[underlined]] F. A. Lawton [[/underlined]] closed his school on the 16th of this month. The amount of salary due him therefore for this month is $12.50. I think his reasons for the closing of the school before the time, are sufficient. I am sorry that the reports due you for last month have not been sent sooner. I have been away ten days in the country and my clerk has not attended to the matter.

Very Respectfully Yours,

Captain:

I have just received your letter of May 21st. I have not had time to inquire about the "Livingston", but if she runs as you write, I shall leave on her next Monday night, June 1st, for your place. I want you to get up as many meetings as you can. I want to visit and examine all the schools, and would like to meet the people at the schools, if you think best. Any arrangement that you can make with this school notice will suit me. I must get round as fast as I can.

Very Respectfully Yours,
