I respectfully ask that the fence about the Free Library Building, cor. 5th and E Sts., be repaired:  that the small building in the rear be nailed up:  that the scavenger be requested to visit and remove filth from the same, and that the fence and exterior of the buildings be whitewashed.

You did not write me about the deed at Barnestown.  Is it all right for a school-house?  And is the money raised to put the building up immediately?  I send you the plan of house to build in all those places.  When you write for lumber, please be very exact about the place, and man to receive it, and his post office address, so that we can inform him of its coming.  You did not write the address of [[underlined]] Johnson. [[/underlined]]  You want them to get out the heavy lumber after the plan.

I respectfully ask the appointment of Miss [[underlined]] Ellen Fisher [[/underlined]] as Asst. Supt. of Education for Prince George Co. Md., at a salary of eighteen dollars ($18.00) per month, and that said appointment date from the 7th of July 1868.  I request that Miss Fisher be stationed at Oxen Run in said County.

[[underlined]] Genl. Howard [[/underlined]] wishes me to write you that he is not dissatisfied at your not reporting to him:  that you can arrange to close school on the 1st of August.  It is somewhat doubtful about  your returning to your present field.  We cannot get you return transportation.  I expect to be at Charleston before the month closes probably about the 29th inst.
