Dear Sir:

I am ordered by Genl Howard to say that no more rent will be paid for school building at Frederick city. We will help to build a school-house at that place if they want. I presume you know to whom the rent has been paid and all about it. Will you please advise me in the matter, and them if you will?

Very Respectfully Yours

Major:

I respectfully ask that the school building on 6th St. near M St. (Island), be repaired to the amount of $60.00, and that Rev. [[underlined]] J. M. Johnson [[/underlined]] be paid for said repairs, such amount, on his presenting proper bills. The roof is of felt, and has not been repaired for two years. Unless something is now done to it, the building must be abandoned. Four schools are now carried on at that place.

Very Respectfully,
Your Obedient Servant,
