Dear Sir:
Have you sent any one to Davidsonville? I understand they will pay the $10,00. Maj. [[underlined]] VanDerlip [[/underlined]] tells me there is a white lady who can get board there, and is a fit person to send. What do you say? Colored are so hard to find.

Very Respectfully, Yours

Dear Sir:
A letter has been given me to answer, addressed to Capt. [[underlined]] Brubaker, [[/underlined]] from yourself and the Comrs. I have to write you that owing to change in the Bureau, we now agree that if you will send us a copy of the deed of lot, and complete the school house according to a plan enclosed, by the middle of December 1868, then on due notice of the completion of the same, we will pay you $200.00 toward the same.

Capt. [[underlined]] Brubaker [[/underlined]] is not now in the Bureau. We have found that paying money for lumber before house is completed is bad business, but I assure you the money is ready as soon as the house is done.

Very Respectfully, Yours
